it seems from the catchlights in the apple that the lights are spread fairly evenly around your subject. this is causing your lighting to look very flat and fairly uninteresting. not sure what all you have available, but try mixing in some other light modifiers with your softboxes (barn doors, grids, flag off parts of lights, whatever) also, vary the distance of your subject from the background, the flat lighting that's hitting your subject is also hitting your background, and making it so there's no real separation.
